What is the Alder Tree Giving mission?
Alder trees are widely known for fostering fertile and healthy soil and, according to Irish folklore, the first man was made of alder. Alder Tree Giving seeks to foster healthy and active lifestyles in children through education and immersive, hands-on activities, and building local institutions that support these goals.
The lessons learned through these activities and in these institutions will serve as fertile and healthy building blocks for their lives and help positively shape our society.
Our programs teach healthy habits
Our children must learn what healthy food is and how to eat it to have healthy and productive lives. Our programs include educational events about food and healthy eating. For example, we are pioneering a farm-to-table program to show children where healthy food comes from, how to grow it, how to identify it, and then how to prepare and eat it.
Our children must also learn the value and benefits of active lifestyles and lifelong healthy hobbies. To reach our audience, we promote these types of events involving music and the arts. For example, we have sponsored local school dance programs that involve teaching children about rhythm and how to dance.
100% efficiency
If you are like us, you hate waste and inefficiency. Rest assured, every single cent you donate goes to children’s programs and education institutions.
Alder Tree Giving is a true non-profit. Our staff and volunteers fund all administrative costs so our donors
know that they are paying for good deeds - not our coffee. We buy our own.
